Saurabh Chaudhary, the 2018 Asian Games champion, continued his impressive run of form as he clinched a gold medal in the 10m Air Pistol event at the 2018 Summer Youth Olympic Games with a score of 244.2 points. Saurabh Chaudhary had also won gold medal at the International Shooting Sport Federation (ISSF) Shooting World Championship earlier in the year. Shooter Saurabh Chaudhary had made India proud after clinching gold medal at the 18th edition of the Asian Games as well. In the same event, his compatriot Abhishek Verma had settled for a bronze medal. While Chaudhary had topped the score chart by posting 240.7 points, Abhishek Verma claimed the third position with a total score of 219.3 points. Tomoyuki Matsuda of Japan finished second on the podium with 239.7 points.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi had also praised the the 16-year-old shooter. PM Modi, on Twitter, wrote: “16-year old Saurabh Chaudhary illustrates the potential and prowess our youth is blessed with. This exceptional youngster brings home a Gold in the Men’s 10m Air Pistol event at the @asiangames2018. Congratulations to him! #AsianGames2018”. The 16-year-old Meerut boy, Saurabh Chaudhary, is surely living up to his promise and talent.
