Sanjeev Rajput Wins Gold Medal in 50m Rifle 3 Positions Men's Shooting Finals for India in CWG 2018

Raut’s gold medal means Indian shooting team has won a total of 16 medal so far in the Commonwealth Games 2018.

After boxer MC Mary Kom’s stupendous efforts in the ring, India wins second gold medal of Day 11 in Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games with shooter Sanjeev Raut taking the top spot in 50m Rifle 3 Positions Men's Finals. The 37-year-old outshined Grzegorz Sych of Canada and Dean Bale of England at Belmont Shooting Centre. With this addition of 19th gold medal, India’s medal moves to 45 out of which 12 are silver and 14 bronze. India continues to take the third spot in CWG 2018 medal table and team standings behind Australia and England.

Sanjeev Raut shot a total of 454.5 points to top the leadership board ahead of Grzegorz’s 448.4 points and Dean’s bronze medal performance with 441.2 points. The final result points for Sanjeev in 50m Rifle 3 Positions Men's Shooting Finals is also the new Games Record, adding another feather in his winning cap. The finals line up also saw second Indian participant Chain Singh who disappointingly finished at the fifth position with 419.1 points.

Raut’s gold medal means Indian shooting team has won a total of 16 medal so far in the Commonwealth Games 2018. The other gold medallists ion shooting for India are Anish Bhanwala, the 15-year-old shooter who took top spot in 25m Rapid Fire Pistol Men's Finals. 16-year-old Manu Bhaker won gold in women’s 10m air pistols, Heena Sidhu wins gold in Women's 25m Pistol, Shreyasi Singh wins gold in Women's Double Trap, Tejaswini Sawant in Women's 50m Rifle 3 Positions and Jitu Rai in men’s 10 m air pistol event.

This is indeed a big moment for shooting side and India at Gold Coast Games 2018. Day 12 expects to bring in more glory for India in other sporting disciplines as well be it in boxing, badminton, athletics, wrestling or table tennis. Big names from the country such as Kidambi Srikanth, Saina Nehwal, Sakshi Malik, Vinesh Phogat, PV Sindhu, Manika Batra and many more will be seen in action the entire day.
