Pyeongchang Winter Olympic Games 2018 Medal Tally: Norway, Germany, and Canada Occupy Top Three Spots Respectively as Games Officially End

The Winter Games 2018 is scheduled till February 25, which will see more than 2,900 participants participate in sporting events

The Winter Olympic Games 2018 came to end officially on February 25, 2018, as the top two nations – Norway and Germany – being separated by only a Silver medal. Norway was on the top of the medal tally whereas Germany and Canada were on the second and third places respectively. The PyeongChang Games saw over 100 medal events take place in 15 sports. It was entertaining to see athletes from around the globe brave rough and tough weather conditions at Pyeongchang, in South Korea and win glory for their countries.

As the 2018 Winter Olympic Games ended, on Sunday, Norway was on the top of the table with 39 medals. Norway won a total of 14 Gold medals, 14 Silver medals, and 11 Bronze medals. Second in the medal tally was Germany, who won a total of 31 medals. They won 14 Gold medals too but then were on the second spot with the difference in the Silver medal count, which were 10, and they won 7 Bronze medals.

On the third spot was the Canada team that won a total of 29 medals. They won 11 Gold, 8 Silver, and 10 Bronze medals. The fourth and the fifth spot were occupied by the United States and the Netherlands, as they won 23 and 20 medals respectively.

2018 Winter Olympics opening ceremony message was focussed on ‘Peace’. It was delighting to watch participants from different countries around the globe walking on the same platform. It was refreshing to see both North and South Korea to walk under one (Korean unification) flag. There were a lot of dignitaries present at the grand opening ceremony of 2018 Winter Games. The Winter Olympics will see participants over 95 countries compete in 15 sports  – Alpine Skiing, Biathlon, Bobsleigh, Cross-country Skiing, Curling, Figure Skating, Freestyle Skiing, Ice Hockey, Luge, Nordic Combined, Short track speed Skating, Skeleton, Ski Jumping, Snowboarding, and Speed Skating. There will be a total of 102 events, a first for an Olympic event, where competitors will contest for more than 100 medals.

The Winter Games are scheduled to end on February 25, which will see more than 2,900 participants participate in sporting events. In previous Olympics, Sochi 2014, Russia topped the Medal Tally.
