Prithvi Shaw was not just the talk of the town when he hit a century against West Indies in his debut Test match but was also trending on Twitter for long hours. The right-handed Prithvi Shaw, a prodigious batting talent from Mumbai, received accolades and congratulatory messages from fans as well as former Indian cricketers. But such messages have put companies like Swiggy and FreeCharge in trouble. According to media reports, Baseline Ventures, the sports marketing team managing which manages Shaw has not just sent notices to the companies but also claimed Rs 1 crore in compensation, from both the companies named above. A report in The Economic Times, a business daily, reported that the reason for these companies have been taken to a court is that the companies used creatives with Shaw's name. "Firsts we'll remember forever: First bite of Rasmalai, First innings of Prithvi Shaw," read the Swiggy creative. Prithvi Shaw Maiden Century on Test Debut vs West Indies: Virender Sehwag, Harbhajan Singh & Other Former Indian Cricketers Applaud Milestone on Twitter.

Baseline Ventures has claimed that the above mentioned companies tried to cash upon Prithvi Shaw's remarkable feat. The company has also said that  both Swiggy and FreeCharge tried to take advantage of Shaw's name and fame for which they had not taken the permission from the sports company, Baseline Ventures.

The MD of Baseline Ventures, Tuhin Mishra, termed the company's tweets not just "disappointing" but also cited it as an example of "ambush marketing". Mishra said that what Swiggy and FreeCharge did is unfair to the player's (Prithvi's) achievements. He added that it would be an injustice to the current and potential sponsors of Prithvi Shaw as they pay to get his name associated with them or their companies.
