Team India is pushing for a medal in the Paris Olympic Games 2024. Various ‘probable medal contenders’ like Neeraj Chopra, Mira Bai Chanu, and India Boxers are given special training to sharpen their chances in the 2024 Olympic Games. But as per reports from MyKhel, a mysterious illness has hit hard one of the five members of the Indian boxing contingent based out of the German city of Saarbrucken. Paris Olympics is scheduled to start on July 26 with the boxing events starting on the next day. Team India has six boxers qualified for the multisport event with many former medalists at the continental level representing the country. They are preparing for the Paris Olympics, in the German city of Saarbrucken and will join India’s squad shortly. The Indian boxing team will depart for Paris on July 22.
However, as per the report from MyKhel, Preeti Panwar, was unable to practice with the team on arrival in Germany due to illness. Preeti was hospitalized for three days and returned to the team's training camp earlier this week. Haryana's 21-year-old star boxer is an Asian Games bronze medalist in women's 54kg and one of the strong medal contenders for India. Similarly, 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games bronze medalist, Lovlina Borgohain (75kg), has been nursing low back pain in the camp. When asked about the issue, an official of the Boxing Federation of India (BFI) familiar with the development said, "There are minor issues but not worrisome," he said over the phone to myKhel. Hemanta Kumar Kalita, Boxing Federation of India (BFI) secretary general highlighted the importance of the training and also mentioned that players need to take care of their fitness and also weight before the Paris Olympics 2024 Games.
