The Indian men's hockey team's sensational win over Great Britain in the quarterfinal was the only bright spot in what was not a promising day for the nation at this year's Summer Games. Goalkeeper PR Sreejesh showed his class and composure, helping India to a penalty shootout win to enter the semifinals for a second consecutive time. But Lakshya Sen, who had the chance to assure atleast a silver medal in men's singles badminton, fell to Denmark's Viktor Axelsen in the semifinal. He will still have a chance to win bronze and should he win it, history would be made. Also, Lovlina Borgohain's defeat in the women's 75kg boxing quarterfinals spelt the end of India's boxing campaign for India. In sailing, Nethra Kumanan finds herself in the 25th spot after eight races and will be in action in races 9 and 10 on Monday, August 5. In Women's skeet, both Maheshwari Chauhan and Raiza Dhillon failed to qualify for the final. Also, Vijayveer Sidhu and Anish Bhanwala's campaigns in 25m rapid fire pistol event ended after they could not reach the final. In athletics, Parul Chaudhary finished eighth in Women's 3000m Steeplechase, while Jeswin Aldrin too could make the final round in Men's Long Jump.
