India did fail to win a medal today, but the limelight was deservedly hogged by Manu Bhaker, who gunned for a third podium finish at the Olympics this year but missed out, finishing fourth by a narrow margin. Later, Deepika Kumari too put up a good show in the women's archery individual event, making it to the quarterfinal. But just like Tokyo, she faced an exit at this very round. Earlier, young Bhajan Kaur had too bowed out of the women's individual archery event in the pre-quarterfinal. With that, India's archery campaign at Paris Olympics 2024 came to an end. Later in the day, Nishant Dev put up a valiant fight against Mexico's Marco Alonso Verde Alvarez, only to lose 1-4 via split decision. In skeet, Anantjeet Singh Naruka's campaign came to an end after he finished 24th with a score of 116 out of 125. In women's skeet, Maheshwari Chauhan is at eight after Day 1 with the top six making it to the final. Her compatriot Raiza Dhillon was at 25th. In sailing, Vishnu Saravanan finished in 21st and 13th positions in races 5 and 6. Nethra Kumanan on the other hand, finished in 28th (races 4 and 5), and 20th spots (race 6). Golfers Shubhankar Sharma and Gaganjeet Bhullar finished with 1 over par (+1) and par (0) respectively in the third round. They will be in action in the fourth round on Sunday.
