It has been a memorable day for India at the Paris Olympics 2024 with the likes of Manu Bhaker, Lakshya Sen and the hockey team among the star performers. Manu Bhaker, who already has won two medals at the Paris Olympics 2024, is gunning for a third which would make her the only Indian to win if she goes on to secure a podium finish. The Indian men's hockey bounced back from their loss to Belgium to beat Australia 4-2, picking up their first win over the Aussies at the Olympics in 52 years. Lakshya Sen then became the first Indian badminton player to enter the semifinals of the Olympics when he downed Chinese Taipei's Chou Tien Chen. The mixed archery team of Dhiraj Bommadevara and Ankita Bhakat became the first Indians to enter the semifinals of an archery event at Olympics but missed out on a bronze medal. Not the best of attempts from Tajinderpal Singh Toor. He fails to clear the qualification mark yet again and his campaign comes to and end.

Not the best start for India in golf. After Round 1, Gaganjeet Bhullar and Subhankar Sharma are at the 56th and 29th place respectively. Definitely the performance is expected to be better on Round 2.

Meanwhile, let us look at the sailing results for India. Vishnu Saravanan is 22nd after 4 races in men's dinghy. 6 more races to go. Top 10 go into medal race. Although after a promising 6th place finish in the first race, Nethra Kumanan slipped to 15th and 27th in the following races. With a total of 48 points, she currently sits in 11th position.

Things not looking good for Tajinderpal Singh Toor as he couldn't show is best in the first two throws in men's shot-put qualification. He still has one attempt left and it will be his now or never attempt.

Athletics promises so much only in its opening day in the Paris Olympics 2024 as the USA Mixed 4x400 metre relay team sets new World and Olympic record just in the heat. They clocked a timing of 3:07:3 breaking the record of 3.08.80 (World) and 3.09.87 (Olympic). A really positive start from Team USA and fans will be excited to see them more in the finals.

History! Lakshya Sen comes back from to beat Chou Tien Chen two games to one and becomes the first Indian to qualify for men's singles badminton semifinal in the Olympic Games. Lakshya, who entered the Paris Olympics 2024 ahs surprised everyone with his tenacity and has single handedly kept India's hopes alive in the sport.

Carrying the only hope for India in badminton, Lakshya Sen is in action at the men's singles quarterfinal against Chou Tien Chen. A win will take Lakshya nearer to a podium finish and a loss means India will return empty handed from badminton.

After putting up a series of impressive performances, Dhiraj Bommadevara and Ankita Bhakat's mixed team have missed out on the bronze medal. India eventually lose the contest 2-6. USA take the bronze medal but it has been a mighty impressive performance from the Indian pair. They finish fourth in the archery mixed team event.

The Paris Olympics 2024 has been a full action-packed event so far where a lot of records have been broken whereas new milestones have been created as well.
