India had a good day at the Paris Olympics 2024! In shooting, Swapnil Kusale entered the final of Men's Rifle 3 Position event and will have the opportunity of winning another medal for India at the Summer Olympic Games this year. The badminton contingent delivered once again with PV Sindhu, Lakshya Sen and HS Prannoy progressing to the round of 16 of their respective events. The boxers, after a disappointing day on July 30, bounced back well, with Lovlina Borgohain and Nishant Dev entering the round of 16 in their respective categories. Both are just one win away from assuring medals. In archery, Deepika Kumari entered the round of 16 of the women's individual event, but later in the day, Tarundeep Rai bowed out with a loss to Tom Hall of Great Britain. Manika Batra and Sreeja Akula, who had advanced to the pre-quarters, suffered defeats in their respective matches to end India's challenge in women's singles. Sreeja Akula bows out after a spirited performance against China's Sun Yingsha. The Indian paddler took the lead in the first two games but failed to hold on and capitalise, with the Chinese world no 1 bouncing back remarkably well. Sun Yingsha went on to win the contest 4-0.
