Paris Olympic Games 2024 are a few days away and India so far has 54 athletes qualified in various individual events and three squads made the cut for the team events. With the date approaching closer, the dress code for the ceremonial events is confirmed as reported in TOI. As per the report, Indian athletes will wear traditional attire during ceremonial events with the impression of the Indian flag. For women athletes, it will standalone pre-pleated ikat printed sarees – which is a method of printing woven fabric by tie-dying the warp yarns. They will be paired with Saffron coloured blouse and a matching blouse pocket that will have the Indian Olympics Association’s (IOA) insignia. To highlight the national flag colours, women athletes will be wearing ikat-printed sarees that will have green and orange colours to combine with the blouse.

Male Athletes will wear kurta-pyjamas at the opening ceremony in Paris along with the matching bandi jackets which will have IOA insignia. For flag colour representation male athletes will have the tricolour printed on the tape and lower panels of their bandi jacket. As per the report, the dress was confirmed on May 28 by IOA to push the Government of India’s initiative to wear traditional dresses during major Game events. 'Anti-Sex' Beds For Athletes Arrive in Paris Ahead of Olympic Games 2024.

Indian athletes had already worn traditional attire back in the 2016 Olympics in Rio. The players were seen pairing the dress with uncoordinated blue blazers. The idea of using a traditional dress code would be to showcase Indian culture on the grand stage. Paris Olympics 2024 is scheduled to take place from July 26 to August 11.
