Neeraj Chopra won the gold medal at the Paavo Nurmi Games 2024 with a magnificent throw of 85.97m at the Paavo Nurmen Stadion in Turku, Finland, on Tuesday, June 18. The ace javelin thrower was in the lead after his first attempt, which was 83.62m. Later, he was outdone by Oliver Helander, the local hero who pulled off an 83.96m throw. Chopra, however, regained the all-important lead with a splendid 85.97m throw in his third attempt. Helander coincidentally had beaten Chopra to win the gold medal in the 2022 edition of the Paavo Nurmi Games. Toni Keralen's fourth attempt of 84.19m had put him in the second spot after the fourth round, and he eventually finished in second place.
