Mehuli, who won two gold medals at the recently concluded ISSF World Championships, scored 253.3 in the final to clinch the gold medal and set a new world record. She broke the 252.9 points set by Apurvi Chandela earlier this year. Chandela had shot 252.9 points at the ISSF World Cup earlier this year in May. Earlier, Indian men's and women's badminton team clinched gold after beating Sri Lanka in its respective finals. The Indian men's team, led by Kidambi Srikanth beat Sri Lanka 3-1, while the women's team blanked Sri Lanka 3-0 to claim the top honours. They had thrashed Pakistan in both the categories to advance to the final. India also beat Pakistan 3-1 in the men's volleyball final to claim gold. India beat their arch-rivals match in four sets. Pakistan won the first set, however, India bounced back to win the match with the final score 3-1. The game saw a tough fight between both the Asian nations. With another gold, India's medals tally, as per the latest update, reached to 27 (10 gold, 12 silver and 5 bronze) in the South Asian Games 2019. India lost the first set 25-20 but won the second set by defeating Pakistan 25-15.

Nepal currently lead the South Asian Games 2010 medal tally with 33 medals in total while India are four behind. India have so far clinched 10 gold, 12 silver medals and 5 bronze. Hosts Nepal, who also lead the medal standings, have won 19 gold medals, 5 silver and 9 bronze medals.
