Mary Kom had entered the quarterfinals of the tournament after she went on to beat Thailand’s Jutamas Jitpongby 5-0. The Indian boxer was extremely sharp in the second match and had set up an amazing counter-attack for the opponents. However, there was a disappointment for India when former silver-medallist Saweety Boora (75kg) lost her pre-quarterfinal bout in a split decision despite a valiant fight. Saweety was up against second-seeded Welshwoman Lauren Price.
