On her debut at the Commonwealth Games, World champion M.C. Mary Kom (48kg) booked India a medal in boxing after defeating Scotland's Megan Gordon and advancing to the semi-final at the Gold coast here on Sunday.

Olympic medallist Mary Kom registered a comfortable 5-0 win over her 18-year-old opponent in the women's 48 kg category at the Oxenford Boxing studios. She will next face Sri Lanka's Anusha Dilrukshi in the last four on April 11.

Meanwhile, World Championship bronze medallist Vikas Krishan (75kg) also kept the medal hopes alive for India as he entered the men's quarterfinals. Vikas overcame Australia's Campbell Somerville with a unanimous 5-0 verdict. Another Indian pugilist Vikas Krishan defeated Campbell Somerville in the opening match to enter men's 75kg pre-quarters.

Elsewhere, on Day 4 of the multi-sport event, Manu Bhaker and seasoned campaigner Heena Sidhu clinched gold and silver in the women's 10m Air Pistol final, while Ravi Kumar bagged a bronze medal in the Men's 10m Air Rifle final.

Punam Yadav clinched a gold medal in the women's 69 kg weightlifting, while Vikas Thakur won a bronze in the men's 94 kg weightlifting. Indian men's hockey team defeated Wales 4-3 in a penalty shoot-out to register their first win in Pool B.
