Misano Adriatico, September 16: Marc Marquez of the Repsol Honda Team grabbed a doubly valuable victory at Misano's Marco Simoncelli circuit in San Marino, bouncing back after the latest setbacks.
It is obvious that the Spaniard's seventh win this season is a significant step toward the 2019 world title since it increased his points in the world standings to 275, 93 ahead of second-placed Andrea Dovizioso of Ducati, reported Efe news. Czech MotoGP: Spanish Rider Marc Marquez Clinches Record 58th Pole Position.
This will enable Marquez to mathematically clinch the title in Thailand, with four races to go before the end of the championship. The upcoming Aragon MotoGP is one of Marquez's favorite races as he won it four times - in 2013, 2016, 2017 and 2018.
The 26-year-old also took the checkered flag at his first-ever Thai MotoGP in 2018.
San Marino was a much-needed victory after the two consecutive last-lap losses to Dovizioso and Alex Rins of Suzuki in the respective Austrian and British MotoGPs, the 11th and 12th races of the 2019 campaign.
Aware of the value of a victory, Marquez nailed the race having reverted the strategy he applied in the previous two races as he waited this time until the last minute to attack his main rival to minimize his ability to reaction. He had to get rid of the burden that made him bitter and he did so in style.
His victory proved that incidents such as the one with his rival, Valentino Rossi of Yamaha, in the last Q2 flying lap that did not end in favor of either of them are settled solely on the circuit. At this point of the season, Marquez's triumph rocketed his odds to win the world champion this year.
