Little over a week after Aruna Budda Reddy created history by becoming the first Indian gymnast to win an individual medal at the Gymnastics World Cup as she clinched a bronze in the women's vault event, Manu Bhaker has registered her name in record books after the shooter won the women's 10m Air Pistol gold medal at ISSF World Cup in Guadalajara, Mexico, on Sunday, March 4.

Most of you will wonder who is this talented girl who has made India proud at the age of 16-year. The Haryana girl was up against the local favorite and two-time World Cup Finals winner Alejandra Zavala. She was trailing by 1.4 points.

But Manu Bhaker displayed nerves of steel by scoring 10.6 with her final shot, and thus clinching the yellow metal. What makes the achievement even more splendid is the fact that this was also her international debut. Her 33-year-old World Cup Finals winner opponent Alejandra Zavala was her nearest rival and had to settle for Silver with an 8.8 on her final attempt.

Even ISSF tweeted about her victory and congratulated the Indian on winning gold.

The growth and evolution of Manu Bhaker has been spectacular to say the least. Even ISSF acknowledged that she had grown by leaps and bounds in the last one year.

It's a huge achievement considering the competition she was facing in the category and to see her name at the top of the list makes every Indian proud.

National Rifle Association of India (NRAI) president Raninder Singh was quick to praise the Indian shooters. He lauded Bhaker for displaying "excellent composure", according to the Press Trust of India.

Reacting after winning the medal, Manu Bhaker said, "I am extremely happy at winning Gold, especially as this is my first World Cup. I look forward to perform even better in upcoming competitions."
