Maharashtra Kesari Kusti 2020 Schedule: Date & Full Timetable of Wrestling Championship's 63rd Edition in Pune
The Gold, Silver and Bronze winners in every wrestling category will be awarded cash prizes. The winners in the competition get an opportunity to apply for government jobs under sports quota as well.
Maharashtra State Wrestling Association has announced the schedule of Maharashtra Kesari Kusti (wrestling) competition. The Maharashtra Kesari Kusti 2020 will be held at the Shiv Chhatrapati Sports Complex Balewadi, Mahalunge in Pune. This year, it is the 63rd edition of the Maharashtra Kesari. The competition will officially begin from January 03, 2020. The first edition of Maharastra Kesari took place way back in 1961. Around 900 wrestlers will take part in the Maharashtra Kesari Kusti 2020 across 10 different weight groups. The weight categories at the Maharashtra Kesari are 57 Kg, 61 Kg, 65 Kg, 70 Kg, 74 Kg, 79 Kg, 86 Kg, 92 Kg, 97 Kg and one Maharashtra Kesari (86 to 125kg). A total of 125 referees will be making sure that the competition is fair and clean.
The Gold, Silver and Bronze winners in every wrestling category will be awarded cash prizes sponsored by Amanora- City Corporation. The winners in the competition get an opportunity to apply for government jobs under sports quota as well.

January 3, 2020:
9 am to 12 noon- Wrestling competitions- Category ‘A’ (57 Kg and 79 Kg)
12 noon to 1 pm- Medical check-up and weights for Category ‘B’ (61 Kg, 70Kg and 86 Kg)
4 pm to 6 pm- Wrestling competitions- Category ‘A’ and ‘B’ (57 Kg, 61 Kg, 70 Kg, 79 Kg & 86 Kg)
6 pm- Inauguration ceremony at the hands of Ajit Pawar
January 4, 2020:
8 am to 12 noon- Wrestling competitions- Category ‘B’ (61 Kg, 70 Kg and 86 Kg)
12 noon to 1 pm- Medical check-up and weights for Category ‘C’ (74 Kg, 92 Kg and Maharashtra Kesari Weight Category)
4 pm to 7 pm- Wrestling competitions- Category ‘B’ and ‘C’ (61 Kg, 70 Kg, 74 Kg, 86 Kg, 92 Kg and Maharashtra Kesari Weight Category)
January 5, 2020:
8 am to 12 noon- – Wrestling competitions- Category ‘C’ (74 Kg, 92 Kg and Maharashtra Kesari Weight Category)
12 noon to 1 pm- Medical check-up and weights for Category ‘D’ (65 Kg, 97 Kg)
4 pm to 7 pm- Wrestling competitions- Category ‘C’ and ‘D’ (65 Kg, 74 Kg, 92 Kg, 97 Kg and Maharashtra Kesari Weight Category)
January 6, 2020:
8 am to 12 noon- Wrestling competitions- Category ‘C’ and ‘D’ (65 Kg, 74 Kg, 92 Kg, 97 Kg and Maharashtra Kesari Weight Category)
4 pm to 7 pm- Wrestling competitions- Category ‘C’ and ‘D’ (65 Kg, 74 Kg, 92 Kg, 97 Kg and Maharashtra Kesari Weight Category)
January 7, 2020:
9 am to 12 noon- Wrestling competitions- Category ‘D’ (65 Kg, 97 Kg)
5 pm- Maharashtra Kesari final and award ceremony.
This will be the 13th occasions when Pune hosts the Maharashtra Kesari Kusti 2020. Pune wrestler Abhijit Katke won the title in 2017 competition and will be looking to emulate his success. The 62nd edition of the Maharashtra Kesari was held in Jalana, and Bala Rafiq Shaikh won the title. He will be aiming for his second consecutive Maharashtra Kesari title.
