India’s ex-cricketer Lalchanad Rajput will be stepping into the shoes of a coach once again! But this time it would be for Zimbabwe Cricket Team. The 56-year old has replaced Heath Streak who was sacked after Zimbabwe failed to qualify for the World Cup 2019.

While speaking to LatestLY.com about the news, Rajput said, “I would be to prepare the players for the upcoming series against Australia and Pakistan which starts in July. With Pakistan, we have a couple of T20 matches. Ditto for Australia. We shall also be playing the 50 over format with Pakistan so it’s important for the players to be fully prepared not just physically but also mentally.”

As mentioned above, Zimbabwe failed to qualify for the World Cup which is scheduled to happen in England next year, thus it quite obvious for the team to get dejected. While speaking about the same Rajput said, “My aim would be to make the players forget the past and look to the future.”

It was yesterday that the official handle of team Zimbabwe shared the news of Twitter. The tweet read, “ZC has named Lalchand Rajput as Zimbabwe's interim head coach. The 56-year-old former India cricketer is a highly qualified, vastly experienced and well-respected coach who was in charge when India won the inaugural ICC World Twenty20 in 2007. We wish you all the best! #Welcome.” Rajput leaving for Zimbabwe in June. “The matches begin from July so I will get good 3-4 weeks with the team,” he said on a concluding note.
