KL Rahul guided Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) to a six-wicket win over Rajasthan Royals (RR) in the match 38 of Indian Premier League 2018 (IPL 2018). The win now helps KXIP overtake Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), who earlier in the day lost to Mumbai Indians (MI), at the third spot on the IPL 2018 points table. Opener Rahul carried his bat through and finished unbeaten on 84 off 54 balls as KXIP reached the target of 153 in 18.4 overs. KXIP vs RR- As it Happened

Despite losing Chris Gayle and Mayank Agarwal early, KXIP thanks to the 50-run stand for the third wicket between Rahul and Karun Nair made a recovery. The duo bailed their side out of trouble from 29 for two.

In the 11th over, Nair was removed by Anureet Singh to brings Royals back in the game. KXIP were further dented when Axar Patel, who was promoted up the order, was sent back a couple of overs later with the home side’s score reading 87 for four. You can video highlights of KXIP vs RR here.

At this stage it looked like, Royals will pull things back, but Rahul dashed all their hopes and went to notch his half-century. He was well supported by Marcus Stoinis as KXIP crossed the line. Rahul during his stay smashed seven fours and three sixes.

Earlier, put to bat, RR were restricted for 153 for nine in the allotted 20 overs. Royals at one stage looks set for a big total but spinner Mujeeb Zadran removed Ben Stokes, Jos Buttler, and Jofra Archer in quick succession to put the brakes of their scoring. He eventually ended with figures of 3/27 in his four overs.
