Khelo India University Games 2021 Medal Tally: Karnataka’s Jain University Continue Dominating at the Top, Lovely Professional University Climb to Second Place
The competition aims to provide a platform for the Indian youth from various universities across the country to showcase their talent and make themselves known at the national level. Khelo India University Games was not held last year owing to COVID-19. This year, it is being hosted in Bengaluru.
Karnataka's Jain University continued their dominance at the top of the medal tally at the Khelo India University Games 2021. They have a total of 32 medals, out of which 20 are gold, seven silver and five bronze. Lovely Professional University occupy second place with 51 medals (17 gold, 15 silver and 19 bronze). Panjab University, Guru Nanak Dev University and Maharshi Dayanand University are third, fourth and fifth on the medal tally respectively. The multi-sport tournament will see athletes from top universities from all over the country take part in multiple sporting disciplines to grab top honours. This event is part of the government's initiative for encouraging the Indian youth to actively take up sports. Also, talented athletes from grassroot levels would be identified through this competition, which would act as a platform for them to shine and make a name for themselves.

Khelo India University Games 2020 was the first-ever edition of the tournament held in Bhubaneshwar, two years ago. Chandigarh's Panjab University emerged as the toppers in the medal tally with 17 gold, 19 silver and 10 bronze. The event had to be postponed last year due to the second wave of COVID-19 in India. This year, the competition is being held in Karnataka.
