Kavita Devi, the first Indian women to ever compete in World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE), will be participating in the honorary Mae Young Classic tournament to be held next month in the United States (US). The tournament will see a slew of women wrestlers, 32 in particular, take part in the competition.

WWE organises the multi-star tournament in honour of the former women wrestler and WWE Hall of Famer, Mae Young. In the previous edition of the Mae Young Classic tournament (i.e. in 2017), Kavita Devi had lost her debut match in the company against Dakota Kai. However, since then it has been quite a journey for the Indian woman wrestler, who hails from Haryana.

Kavita Devi, later, signed a contract with WWE after her participation in the tournament. Since then, she is being trained in WWE’s developmental territory – NXT! Her first significant appearance in WWE came at their annual showdown – Wrestlemania 34. The women wrestlers in NXT took over the inaugural (woman) Battle Royal match and were quite a spectacle as they demolished main roster superstars in the kick-off show.

Not too long ago, Kavita Devi made her in-ring debut when she accepted the open challenge issued by BB Bull Bull during a Continental Wrestling Entertainment (CWE) in 2016. Her video of pummelling BB Bull Bull in the ring went viral in no time, and it is also believed that it was then when she caught the eyes of WWE!

It will be for the second time that Kavita Devi will be participating in the iconic tournament. Kavita, who considers former WWE wrestler The Great Khali as her inspiration, would sure be looking forward to bettering her previous record at the same tournament, where she lost in the first round.
