Pro Kabaddi League (PKL) Season 6 is about to begin, and the excitement levels amongst fans are sky-high. The popularity of Kabaddi in India has grown manifolds in the last five years. The sport has become so popular in a short span of time is that it has become the second most watched sport on TV (in India) after Cricket.
Pro Kabaddi League began with eight teams during its first season in 2014. Last year the tournament expanded to 12 teams. The participants of PKL 2018-19 are divided equally into two zones, i.e. Zone A, and Zone B.
In the Zone A, there are teams of Dabang Delhi K.C., Gujarat Fortunegiants, Haryana Steelers, Jaipur Pink Panthers, Puneri Paltan, and U Mumba. Whereas in the Zone B, there are teams of Bengal Warriors, Bengaluru Bulls, Patna Pirates, Tamil Thalaivas, Telugu Titans, and U.P. Yoddha.
The first season of Pro Kabaddi League (in 2014) was won by Jaipur Pink Panthers, whereas U Mumba won the second season (in 2015). Since then Patna Pirates has shown its dominance in the league by winning the next three season (2016-January, 2016-June, and 2017) on a trot.
Pro Kabaddi League 2018-19 is set to begin on October 5. The three-month long tournament will see over 130 Kabaddi matches being played, with the Final being scheduled to be played on January 5, 2019.
