Jakarta, August 23: India's men's kabaddi teams domination at the Asian Games ended on Thursday as the seven-time champions failed to reach the final for the first time. The Indian team lost to Iran 17-27 in the semi-final and had to settle for bronze. India's medal tally has gone up to 18 with this win.
The Ajay Thakur-led Indian side took two points lead in the first quarter. The scores were level at 9-9 at one stage, but Iran kept taking points lead as India's lacklustre defense allowed Iran to mount a considerable lead.

Earlier in the day, 15-year-old Shardul Vihan won the first silver medal of the day as he came second in men's double trap shooting event. India's first medal of the fifth day of 2018 Asian Games came after Ankita Raina made to the semi-finals of women's singles in tennis. India's medal tally now moves to 17 - 4 Gold, 4 Silver and 9 Bronze. India is on ninth position of Asian Games 2018 medal table and team standings.
Meanwhile, China touched 50 gold-medal mark and is on the leaderboard with 98 medals which also includes 33 silver and 15 bronze. Japan is at the second place with 73 medals including 20 gold, 25 silver and 28 bronze. South Korea takes the third spot with 56 medals including 11 gold, 19 silver and 26 bronze.
