Jeremy Lalrinnunga Bags Gold Medal in Weightlifting for India at 2018 Youth Olympic Games

Jeremy Lalrinnunga lifted a total of 274 kg which included a combined weight of 124 kg in snatch and 150 kg in clean and jerk. It is India's first-ever Gold medal win at Youth Olympics Games!

India's Jeremy Lalrinnunga created history at Summer Youth Olympic Games 2018 in Buenos Aires, Argentina as he clinched a Gold medal in Men's 62 kg weightlifting category. Jeremy lifted a total of 274 kg, which included a combined weight of 124 kg in snatch and 150 kg in clean and jerk. The 15-year-old weight lifter's previous best was 273 kg which he had achieved last month in an event in Patiala. India at Youth Olympic Games 2018: Tababi Devi Thangjam Bags Silver Medal in Judo, Extends India’s Tally to 2.

Jeremy, who hails from Mizoram aims to win a senior Olympic medal and downplayed his comparison with his seniors. He has been training with the Army training institute for the last two years and has already achieved recognition at the national and international level.

Jeremy Lalrinnunga had won Silver medals at World Youth Championship, too, in Penang in 2016 and Bangkok in 2017. Jeremy has also won medals for India in Asian Youth and Junior Championships and Commonwealth Youth and Junior Championships also!
