Team Sunrisers Hyderabad is known for having the most amazing bowling line-up. There have been many occasions where the team has defended low scoring games successfully. But since the last couple of matches, the bowlers have failed to live up to the expectations. Yesterday Sunrisers Hyderabad and Basil Thampi had a forgettable day at the office.
During his 4 over spell, Thampi gave away 70 runs at an economy rate of 17.50 and thus went on to become the most expensive bowler in the history of the IPL. He even surpassed SRH’s ex-player Ishant Sharma who in 2013 had conceded 66 runs in 4 overs against Chennai Super Kings at the Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium.
The bowling lineup was ripped by AB de Villiers, Moen Ali and Grandhomme. SRH fast bowlers Sandeep Sharma, Siddharth Kaul and Thampi were literally hit all over the park. Sandeep gave away 40 runs claiming 1 wicket. Kaul got rid of a couple of RCB batsmen but conceded 44 runs. Talking about the SRH batting, Kane Williamson and Manish Pandey gave the team 135 run long partnership. But the score just did seem enough for SRH to walk away with the last laugh.
After losing the match, Kane said, "I think to be honest, we missed the trick a little with the ball in hand. RCB have a fantastic batting line-up and put us under pressure. When you're chasing a total like that, you need to make right decisions, at key times in the chase, we didn't. But there's a lot to learn as we move forward. We've seen the surface being tough here, tonight it was a good wicket, so we didn't want to get carried away. Close, but not close enough."
