Things are heating up at the Kings XI Punjab camp after their loss against Rajasthan Royals at the IPL 2018. Team KXIP couldn’t chase a meagre score of 158 runs and this baffled Preity Zinta, the owner of the franchise. As per a leading daily, Mumbai Mirror Preity Zinta vented out her frustration on the team’s mentor Virender Sehwag for sending KXIP skipper Ravichandran Ashwin on number 3 ahead of Karun Nair and Manoj Tiwari. Even before the players could retire to their changing room, Preity reportedly went on to Sehwag and questioned the tactics used against RR.
Sehwag, however, played it cool, but when Preity continued to blame him, he reasoned it out with her. This is not the first time that Sehwag has had issues with Preity Zinta interfering in his job. “Viru had told the other owners to rein in Preity. He told the owners that he’ll not comment on Preity’s acting chops and she should refrain from talking about his cricketing acumen,” a source told Mumbai Mirror. Viru could quit the franchise.
An eyewitness told the newspaper that “Preity was frustrated that the team had lost three out of their last four games. But then, she picked the wrong person to vent out on,” the eyewitness said. Virender Sehwag remained unavailable for comment but team’s co-owner Mohit Burman said, “But as far as I know, there is no problem. I have spoken to Viru and Preity.” As things stand today, Kings XI Punjab is currently on the 3rd spot and look well placed for playoffs. This is not the first time that the support staff has had to face the music from Preity Zinta. In 2016, she slammed Sanjay Bangar after a series of failure. However, she took to social media and rubbished the reports.
