England’s Mark Wood has decided to end his stint with Chennai Super Kings and fly back to prepare for the Test Series against Pakistan. The series will begin on May 24 at Lord’s. So far, he has just played one match for CSK. Wood took to social media to announce his exit from Chennai Super Kings.
He posted a picture of his CSK cap and had his statement attached to it. He wrote, “The decision has been made for me to return home to England to prepare for the English summer. Having worked so hard to get back into the Test team, and because I’m not currently in the CSK side, I am coming home to play for Durham to hopefully put my name in the hat for Test match selection. To the CSK management, players, and supporters, thanks so much for the support and welcoming me into this family club. It was a very proud moment for me to be presented my cap by MS Dhoni. Although things didn’t quite go to plan this year, I hope to be able to wear it again. I’ll be watching you from home and cheering you on,”
Rajasthan Royal’s Ben Stokes, Chris Woakes and Moeen Ali who are playing for Royal Challengers Bangalore are said to return in the coming days. Wood will play against Derbyshire in the county second division game, starting on May 11 in Derby. Team Chennai Super Kings had picked Wood for the base price of Rs 1.50 Crore in the second round of the IPL auction.
