IOA President PT Usha Issues Show Cause Notice to Treasurer Sahdev Yadav Over ‘Extended Tenure’ Violating Cap Set by Sports Code
After a complaint was received regarding Sahdev Yadav’s election, IOA President PT Usha issued a show cause notice. As per reports, a copy of the letter has also been sent to Sports Minister Mansukh Mandaviya and the International Olympic Committee’s Associate Director of NOC Relations Department.
Indian Olympic Association (IOA) President took action after receiving a complaint regarding the election of treasurer Sahdev Yadav. As per the complaint, Yadav and some other officials are continuing in office over the prescribed period, violating the age and tenure cap set by the sports code. As per the report from Business Standard, PT Usha wrote a letter to Yadav and raising her concerns over the complaint received. She wrote, “I am writing to you to bring to your attention a formal complaint that the Indian Olympic Association has recently received concerning your eligibility to contest the position of Treasurer in the last elections. The complainant cites a ruling from Hon’ble High Court, which, according to the complainant, raises concerns about your eligibility to stand for election.” IOA President Usha asked Yadav to reply by September 24.
Along with a letter to Yadav, copies of the letter were also sent to Sports Minister Mansukh Mandaviya and International Olympic Committee’s Associate Director of NOC (National Olympic Committee) Relations Department Jerome Poivey. Yadav has been a former secretary of the Indian Weightlifting Federation and has been on its board for 15 years. There are similar allegations on Wushu Federation of India’s Bhupinder Singh Bajwa, National Rifle Association vice-president Ajay Patel, and Rowing Federation of India president Rajlakshmi Singh Deo. The ‘unnamed’ complainant has demanded immediate removal of individuals from the IOA executive committee. IOA has kept the complainant’s identity secret.
