New Delhi, Aug 10: An international gold medallist in wrestling and three other wrestlers have been arrested for robbing a businessman on gunpoint in outer Delhi's Samaypur Badli area, the police said on Saturday.

The arrested accused were identified as Lakshay (22), who won a gold medal in Thailand in the Indo-Thai Championship in the year 2017, Dinesh (30), Hardeep (27) and Robin (28) who had robbed a grocery shop owner at gunpoint.

DCP (Outer North) Gaurav Sharma said, in July they had received a complaint in which the complainant had alleged that he was sitting in his car with a bag containing Rs 60,000 and some documents and his servant identified as Pankaj was closing the shutter of his shop in Rohini area when four men came in a car and robbed the bag after firing at Pankaj and fled away.

"During investigation, we were able to trace the car and following a tip off all the four accused were nabbed in the same car. During interrogation it was revealed that Robin was a driver and used to supply cold drinks in the area and had targeted the victim," said Sharma.

Police said that the role of each member of the gang was clearly defined.

"Robin used to gather information about the cash movements and used to identify the target. Hardeep used to manage the vehicle used in the crime. Lakshay used to provide moral support while Dinesh was the main muscleman of the gang," said Sharma.

All the four accused are wrestlers and are strongly built because of which they can overpower any victim, police said. Dinesh, who is Robin's maternal uncle of was in dire need of money for his wife's delivery. Lakshay had joined this gang out of adventure and is the one who had fired on the servant.

His brother-in-law is an advocate and he used to boast about him to the cops, police said, adding that he had given a kind of assurance to his co-accused that his brother-in-law would take care of all their legal issues.
