New Delhi, December 9: Indian Olympic Association (IOA) chief Narinder Batra called on Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Monday and briefed him about India's preparations for next year's Olympic Games to be held in Tokyo. Batra, who is also the President of International Hockey Federation (FIH), discussed the holding of the 2023 International Olympic Committee (IOC) session in Mumbai.

According to reports, organising the men's hockey World Cup in Odisha in January 2023 was also discussed during the meeting. Batra and Shah talked about bidding for the 2026 Youth Olympics where one city from Delhi, Bhubaneswar and Mumbai will be shortlisted by the IOA for evaluation by the IOC. Indian Olympic Association Head Narinder Batra Elected as IOC Member.

Sharing a photo of Shah and Batra, Hockey India tweeted: "Dr. Narinder Dhruv Batra, President of FIH on December 9, 2019 met Shri Amit Shah, Hon'ble Home Minister, Government of India to discuss about conducting Hockey Men's World Cup in January 2023 in Bhubaneshwar & Rourkela (Odisha)." "They also discussed about the Fit India Movement, TOPS Programme and Khelo India Youth Games 2020. On behalf of the sporting community & fraternity, we thank our Hon. Home Minister Shri AMit Shah," it added.
