India finished their journey in the Asian Games 2023 with a record haul of 107 medals, the nation's best-ever medal tally in the history of the event. The magical 100-figure mark was crossed by India when the women's kabaddi team won the gold medal. The nation finished fourth on the medal table with 107 medals including 28 gold, 38 silver and 41 bronze. Earlier, India's best medal haul was 70, in the 2018 edition of the event. While the People's Republic of China leads the overall Asian Games 2023 medals tally, India is placed fourth in the standings and have crossed the 100 mark on the medals tally. Archery, shooting and athletics have yielded good returns for India at the Asiad this year. India's athletics team has been on a roll providing India a total of 29 medals including six gold medals.  Apart from that, India has earned gold medals in Equestrian and Cricket as well.

Asian Games 2023, which is the 19th edition of the continental multi-sport, was originally scheduled for 2022 but was postponed by a year due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The Asiad 2023 began on September 23 and will last till October 08. In the previous edition of the Asian Games in Jakarta in 2018, India registered their best-ever medal haul with 70 medals across different sporting events. India clinched 16 gold, 23 silver and 31 bronze medals. India had sent its largest-ever contingent, comprising 655 athletes to the Asian Games this year.
