The Indian team had to settle for the Silver medal in Women’s Kabaddi, on Day 6 of the Asian Games 2018. India lost 24-27 to Iran and had to settle for the Bronze medal. After a great start, the Indian team faltered and the Indian women’s team saw a repeat of what happened to Men’s team against Iran, yesterday.

India Women’s team were leading during the half-time with the scoreline reading 13-11 in India’s favour. However, it was during the second half that India lost the steam, and eventually the match.

In the end, Sakshi Kumari scored 3 points in the match to give the Indian camp a hope, and bring the score down to 24-27. However, on her second attempt, she wasn’t able to score points as India had to settle for the Silver medal.

The Indian team began on a stupendous note with a lead of 6-2 in the start. However, the Iranian team scored points at crunch situations to keep India’s lead in check. And just before the half-time, Iran scored three points to bring down the lead to 13-11, during the half-time.

After the half-time, the Indian team looked shaky in the start as Iran took lead over India and were sitting comfortably at 17-13. India then finally took a point, their first in the last 9 points in the match, and reduced the lead.

With the win, India will end their Kabbadi campaign at Asian Games 2018 with a Bronze and a Silver medal. So far, the Indian team’s medal count has risen to 24, of which there are 6 Gold, 5 Silver, and 13 Bronze medals. Currently, India is placed at 7th spot in medal tally and latest country-wise standings in 2018 Jakarta Palembang Games.
