Macau, July 3: The recently concluded Squash Asian Junior Individual Championship, held in Macau from June 26 - 30 saw the Indian players win seven medals. Thirty-two players represented India in each of the Under 13, Under 15 Under 17 and U 19 categories. The finals in the U19 category were played between two Indian Players - Veer Chotrani and Yash Fadte; wherein Veer beat Yash to win the Asian Junior Championship.

Among the other Indian winners were Anahat Singh, who won Bronze in the Girls U13 category, Yuvna Gupta, who won Silver in the Girls U15 category, Sanya Vats, who won Bronze in the Girls U19 category, Paarth Ambani, who won Bronze in the Boys U15 category, Neel Joshi, who won Silver in the Boys U17 category and Yash Fadte, who won Silver in the Boys U19 category. Squash: HCL, SRFI Plans to Improve Squash Ecosystem in India.

The 32 players who represented India trained under Chris Ryder, National Squash Coach for Britain and Indian coaches Dhiraj Singh, Bhuvneshwari Kumari, Surbhi Mishra, Dhruv Dhawan, Deepak Mishra, Abhinav Sinha at a high-performance camp conducted by HCL in partnership with the Squash Rackets Federations of India (SRFI).

The High Performance Camp was part of the HCL Squash Podium Program, which aims to transform the Squash ecosystem in India. The players were coached to improve their overall game tactics, strength and conditioning during the two-week camp. Players were also assisted with nutritional direction and psychological counselling to help them perform better against their international counterparts.

Speaking about this success, Cyrus Poncha, SRFI Secretary General said, "We are proud of the stellar performance of the Indian players at the Asian Juniors. We believe it is an indication that our efforts are in the right direction. SRFI is focusing on the overall development of the sport in the country with the support of HCL. I am confident that our Under 19 players will continue their winning streak at the upcoming Squash World Junior Championship to be held in Malaysia in August."
