Indian Rugby Women’s Team Beat Singapore 21-19 in Asia Rugby Women’s Championship 2019; Record their First International Victory

Not very long ago was the squad for Indian Rugby Women’s team was announced. The 26 member squad was announced for the Asia Rugby Women’s Championship 2019 which is currently underway in at Southern Plains Sports Field in Manila. The Indian women today faced Singapore in the Asia Rugby Women’s Championship 2019 and walked away with the last laugh. The Indian women registered a historic victory as they won the game 21-19. With this, the Indian women recorded their first international victory. Needless to say that the players got emotional and the video was shared on social media.

The women were lauded by the official body of Rugby World who posted a tweet and wrote, “WOW! History is made as @RugbyIndia women record their first-ever 15s  international victory with a 21-19 victory against Singapore! Emotional  scenes.”

The players could not contain their excitement and were in tears as they walked away with the victory. Check out the video below:

The team had already faced the Philippines in the first game of the Asia Rugby Women’s Championship 2019 on June 19, 2019. The Indian women lost the match marginally by 32-27. India could next face China in the next game. Talking about the Championship, it started from June 17 and the finals will be held on June 23. The Indian contingent is being led by Vahbiz Bharucha.
