In their second game of Pool C, India will now take on Belgium in the second match of the Men’s Hockey World Cup 2018 at the Kalinga Stadium in Odisha. This is quite an important match for the Men in Blue today as a victory here would bring the Indians closer to the quarterfinals. The Indians started off their World Cup campaign on a positive note as they defeated South Africa comprehensively by 5-0. It wouldn’t be wrong to say the hosts outclassed South Africa.  On the other hand, Rio Olympic silver medalist Belgium had a not-so-impressive opening game against Canada.

The team fought hard for victory and finally managed to defeat Canada 2-1. India however, does not have a good head-to-head record with Belgium. The two teams have faced each other 19 times and India has won only on five occasions. One match ended with a draw. The Indians will have to be really good in all departments of the game against the Red Lions. Indian forwards Mandeep Singh, Simranjeet Singh, Akashdeep Singh and Lalit Upadhyay who were at their best during the game with South Africa would surely look forward to continuing their good performances.
