Kolkata Knight Riders skipper Dinesh Karthik has replaced injured Wriddhiman Saha from the historic test match which is scheduled to happen on June 14 in Bengaluru. Saha who got injured while playing in the second qualifier for Sunrisers Hyderabad is currently nursing his thumb injury and needs adequate rest. The BCCI circulated a statement about Karthik tapping into the shoes of Saha.
"Wriddhiman Saha has been ruled out of the one-off Test against Afghanistan to be held in Bengaluru from the 14th of June, 2018. Saha suffered an injury to his right thumb while playing for Sunrisers Hyderabad in the IPL Qualifier 2 against Kolkata Knight Riders on 25th May 2018 at the Eden Gardens," the BCCI statement read.
"He was under observation by the medical staff of the BCCI and the management has decided to give him adequate rest before the start of the England Test series. Saha's recovery period is expected to be around five to six weeks," the statement added.
Karthik so far has played 23 test matches for the country and has scored 1000 runs. He has scored one century and seven 50s. The right-hand batsman has been in an amazing form since Nidhas Trophy where his historic six led India to victory. He also played an important role as a skipper of Kolkata Knight Riders. In the entire season, Karthik scored 498 runs from 16 matches. His highest score in the IPL 11 was 52 runs with a strike rate of 147.77. Karthik’s average in the IPL was 49.80.
