India continue their strong performance in the Asian Table Tennis Championship as after the success of the Indian Women's Team, the Men's Team also assured a medal in the Asian Table Tennis Championship. This will be the third consecutive occasion for the men's team where they have secured a medal in the Asian Table Tennis Championships. They won bronze twice in the last two editions of the competitions. This time they would look to change the colour of the medal. India defeated hosts Uzbekistan 3-2 in the quarterfinal to achieve the spot in the semifinal. Manav Thakkar started the quarterfinal on a positive note as he defeated world number 41 Kirill Gerassimenko in a dominant 3-0 scoreline to give India the lead. As it seemed like India will ride on the momentum, Harmeet Desai shockingly lost 3-0 to Alan Kurmangaliyev as Uzbekistan came back into the tie. India were in the backfoot when Achanta Sharath Kamal showed his experience and brough India back in the tie by defeating Aidos Kenzhigulov 3-0. With the match tightly poised, Harmeet Desai returned again to face Kirill Gerassimenko and in a closely fought encounter, Harmeet secured a victory by the margin of 3-2 and helped India secure the win in the tie 3-1.
