India opened their account on the Asian Games 2018 medals tally with a bronze in the 10m Air Rifle Mixed Team event. The medal came India’s way after Apurvi Chandela and Ravi Kumar finished third in the final of 10m Air Rifle Mixed Team. The India duo finished with a score of 429.9 and was third to be eliminated. After 30 shots India maintained their second position in the final and looked concourse for at least a silver. However, after 34 shots the duo slipped to third and maintained that position till the end. The Mongolian pair of Nandinzaya Gankhuyag and Bayaraa Nyantai with a total score of 346.6 were the first to be eliminated.

Subsequently, the Koreans Eunhea Jung and Hyeonjun Kim with a score of 389.4 was the second pair to be eliminated. And that guaranteed India of at least a bronze medal. Earlier, in the day, the Indian pair finished second in the qualification behind Korea with a total score of 835.3 to make it to the final. This is the first time that the mixed team event in the shooting is featuring at the Asian Games.

Also in the 10m Air Pistol Mixed Team event India’s Manu Bhaker and Abhishek Verma missed a place in the final after they finished sixth in qualification with 759 points. Though they secured same points as Kazakhstan, due to more inner 10s the latter advanced to the five-team final.
