India's Tababi Devi Thangjam bagged silver medal in Judo to extend India's tally to two on the opening day of 2018 Summer Youth Olympic Games in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Earlier, India opened its account through shooter Tushar Mane who also stood on the second position of the podium in 10m air rifle. Tababi Devi is the first Judoka to win a medal for India at the Olympics, both in junior or senior. She progressed to the finals of the 44kg category but was beaten by Venezuela's Maria Gimenez by 0-2 to clinch the Gold medal. The girl from Manipur, who is Asian Cadet Champion 2017 thrashed Ana Viktorija Puljiz of Croatia by 10-0 en route to the finals but could not get the better of Maria. However, she has continued to impress in the sport in the junior level. India has entered the competition with its largest-ever contingent of 46 athletes in 13 different sports. India is sure to better its last event's medal tally this time where the athletes won two medals in total.
