Indian badminton players, led by PV Sindhu, obtained five Paris Olympics 2024 quota places for their country as per the Race to Paris Ranking List published by the BWF. As per the selection criteria, Players in the top 16 of the men’s and women’s Race to Paris Rankings secure a spot for their national teams for the Olympics. Two such players are allowed via ranking. The qualifying period started on May 1, 2023, and ended on April 28, 2024. Former world champion PV Sindhu secured the quota by finishing 12th on the Race to Paris Ranking List. Similar was the case for India’s doubles stars. In the Ladies' category, experienced Ashwini Ponappa and Tanisha Crasto secured Olympic berths after finishing thirteenth. Ashwini Ponappa and Tanisha Crasto, meanwhile, won Super 100 titles late last year and made it to the final of the Syed Modi International BWF Super 300 event.

India’s in-form pair ‘Sat-Chi’ secured the quota in doubles events clinching the third spot in men’s doubles. Chirag Shetty and Satwiksairaj Rankireddy rose to the top spot in the Badminton rankings clinching the gold medal at the Asian Games last year. Out of these qualified athletes, PV Sindhu won silver at the Rio 2016 Olympics and bronze at Tokyo 2020. She will look to finish higher than her previous performances. Other squad members - especially Chirag Shetty and Satwiksairaj Rankireddy are also strong candidates for a podium finish. The badminton schedule at the Paris Olympics 2024 will start on July 27, while the medal events will start on August 2.
