Hriday Hazarika Wins Gold in 10m Air Rifle Men’s Junior; Makes India Proud in ISSF World Shooting Championships 2018

Hriday Hazarika wins the gold medal for India in the 10m Air rifle men's junior in the ongoing ISSF World championship in Changwon, South Korea

Changwon, South Korea, September 7: 16-year-old shooter Hriday Hazarika has made the nation proud by winning the gold medal in 10m Air rifle men's category (junior) at the World Shooting Championship in South Korea's Changwon. Hazarika, who hails from Assam was the lone Indian to qualify for the final with the score of 627.3.

Hazarika was tied with Iran’s Mohammed Amir Nekounam on 250.1 after the 2nd competition stage but edged him in the shoot off to claim the gold medal. Russia's Grigorii Shamakov, who managed a score of 228.6 secured the Bronze medal. The junior team, comprising of Hazarika, Divyansh Panwar and Arjun Babuta, finished fourth with a combined total of 1872.3. However, there was a disappointment for the country in the senior men's 50m rifle three position competition as none of the Indians could qualify for the finals. With Asian Games silver-medallist Sanjeev Rajput finishing lowest at 58th position with a score of 1158.
