From a total of 7,752 games played by 1,870 players across 11 rounds over 13 days, it was a watershed moment as with the win, India emerged as the new powerhouse of world chess, challenging the dominance of USA and Eastern Europe. India, Uzbekistan, China, Armenia, and Azerbaijan secured positions in top eight and top seven of open section and the women's section respectively, proving the rise of central Asia in World Chess map with India leading the charge. Coming in as the second seed after USA, the quintet of D. Gukesh, Arjun Erigaisi, R. Praggnanandhaa, Vidit Gujrathi and Pentala Harikrishna dominated the proceedings, winning 10 of its 11 rounds with only one draw, which was against defending champion Uzbekistan in the third-last round. In the women's section it was Divya Deshmukh and Vantika Agrawal leading the charge doing the heavy lifting alongside R. Vaishali, Harika Dronavalli and Tani Sachdev, ensuring India’s double delight in both sections. The duo of Divya and Vantika accounted for 14 of the team’s total 23 wins, earning individual gold medals on Boards 3 and 4.

The Sports Authority of India has awarded Rs. 20,00,000 to each of the players in the Indian Open and Women's Team. The Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, M.K. Stalin felicitated and awarded Rs. 25,00,000 to Gukesh, Praggnanandhaa, and Vaishali each. The team captain Srinath Narayanan was awarded Rs. 15,00,000. All the players from both teams will be awarded Rs. 25 Lakhs each. The Team Captains Srinath Narayanan and Abhijit Kunte will receive Rs. 15 Lakhs each, and the Assistant coaches/seconds from each team - Sankalp Gupta, Vaibhav Suri, Swayams Mishra, and Arjun Kalyan will receive Rs. 7.5 Lakhs. The Head of the Indian delegation, Dibyendu Barua will be awarded Rs. 10 Lakhs. The total outlay by AICF for this achievement was a massive Rs.3.2 crores.
