Mumbai, August 10: Indian hockey team secured their second consecutive bronze medal at the ongoing 2024 Paris Olympics. India's men's hockey team is the most successful hockey team to participate in the Olympics. Gold

In 1928, the Indian men's hockey team won its first Olympic gold medal. From that year until 1960, the team remained unbeaten in the Olympics, securing six consecutive gold medals. They achieved a remarkable 30–0 winning streak during this period. Overall, the Indian hockey team has won eight Olympic gold medals in the following years and locations: 1928 Amsterdam, 1932 Los Angeles, 1936 Berlin, 1948 London, 1952 Helsinki, 1956 Melbourne, 1964 Tokyo, and 1980 Moscow.

Silver

The field hockey tournament at the 1960 Summer Olympics in Rome, featured sixteen teams. Pakistan won the gold medal by defeating India in the final, ending India's streak of six consecutive Olympic gold medals in field hockey.

Bronze

India won their first bronze medal in hockey at the 1968 Mexico Olympics, followed by another bronze at the 1972 Munich Olympics. In 2020, the Indian team secured a bronze at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics by defeating Germany 5–4, marking a historic win as it was their first Olympic medal in hockey in 41 years. Continuing their success, India clinched another bronze at the ongoing Paris 2024 Olympics by defeating Spain 2-1. India's medal tally at Paris 2024: Six so far

India has won one silver and five bronze medals so far, with three coming from shooting. Manu Bhaker won the first bronze in the women's 10m air pistol event. She also won bronze in the mixed 10m air pistol team event with Sarabjot Singh. Aman Sehrawat secured bronze medal in 57 Kg freestyle wrestling.Swapnil Kusale added a bronze in the men's 50m rifle three positions event. Aman Sehrawat secured bronze medal in 57 Kg freestyle wrestling.
