The Indian team won another medal on Day 6, as Heena Sidhu won a Bronze medal in Women’s 10m Air Pistol event at Asian Games 2018. This happens to be India’s 13 Bronze medal win at Jakarta Palembang 2018 Games. China won the Gold medal, while Korea won the Silver medal in the Shooting event.
Heena Sidhu scored a total of 219.2 points and had to settle for the Bronze medal. Gold medal winner Wang Qian scored an Asian Games record of 240.3 points, whereas the Silver medal winner Kim Minjung could score 237.6 points in the competition.
For India, Manu Bhaker also qualified for the Finals event. However, the young shooter was able to score only 176.2 points and was placed 5th.
At the ongoing event, Heena had barely made to the finals after finishing seventh in the list of final eight competing at the 10m Air Pistol Gold Medal Match at JSC - Shooting Range.
Heena Sidhu's bronze medal win is ninth medal (two Gold, four Silver and three Bronze) won by Indian shooters at Asian Games 2018. 16-year-old Saurav Chaudhary and Rahi Sarnobat won gold medals in men's 10m air pistol and women's 25m air pistol respectively. 15-year-old Shardul Vihan won silver in men's double trap event.
Heena Sidhu had won a silver medal in Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games finishing second behind countrywoman Manu Bhaker in 10m Air Pistol event.
With the medal win, India’s medal count has gone up to 23. So far, the Indian contingent has won 6 Gold, 4 Silver, and 13 Bronze medals and is currently placed at 7th position in the medal tally and latest country-wise standings.
