Haryana Sports Minister Anil Vij and Youth Olympics Gold Medalist Manu Bhaker are at loggerheads. It all started when the 16-year-old reminded about the cash prize which was to be given by the state government for her Youth Olympics Gold Medal in October 2018. A sum of Rs 2 crore was promised to the shooter after she became the first Indian to clinch gold at Youth Olympics last year. Now, Anil Vij has hit back at the youngster and said that she should have checked before lashing out at the State government and also assured that the prize will be given to her. Manu Bhaker Reminds Haryana Sports Minister Anil Vij of Promised Rs 2 Crore Award, Says Was it Just a 'Jumla'.
In a couple of tweets Anil Vij said, “Manu Bhaker should have first confirmed it from the Sports Deptt. before going to public domain. It is disgusting to denounce a State Govt which is giving highest awards in the Country. Bhaker will will will get 2 crores as tweated by me and as per notification at that time.” In another tweet he said that the 16-year old should feel sorry for the comment.
There should be some sense of decipline in players. Bhaker should feel sorry for creating this controversy. She has a long way to go. She should focus on her game only.

Manu had earlier posted screenshots of the minister congratulating her on Twitter and also promising her the cash prize of Rs 2 crore. “Sir Please confirm if it is correct... Or just Jumla(sic)," Bhaker wrote on Twitter as a caption of the snapshot. This is not the first time that Manu has criticised the state government. Earlier she had said that someone in Haryana government has been playing games with the cash prize money.
