Gary Kirsten Replaces Daniel Vettori As Head Coach of Virat Kohli-led RCB for IPL 2019

Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) have named former South African cricketer Gary Kirsten as coach and mentor. Gary replaces former New Zealand spinner Daniel Vettori as RCB’s coach. Vettori was sacked following RCB’s poor performance in the last couple of seasons. The New Zealander was associated with RCB as a player before taking the mentorship. RCB have not won an IPL title yet. "It has been a great eight-year journey with Daniel Vettori and we wish him the very best for all future endeavours. We are very happy to have Gary Kirsten take on the mantle of coach and mentor for RCB. Interestingly, for IPL 2018 RCB had appointed Gary as team’s batting coach and now has been handed full responsibility. Gary’s well-known stint in the coaching was with Indian cricket team when he helped the MS Dhoni-led side win the 2011 Cricket World Cup.
Following his appointment, Gary said he thoroughly enjoyed the experience coaching with RCB last season under Vettori. "I look forward to continuing the journey with RCB and doing my best to help the franchise reach its potential," he said.
Meanwhile, Vettori wished RCB all the best for future. ”I am extremely grateful for the eight years I have spent with RCB, as a player and a coach and I wish the franchise all the best moving forward,” he said. (Inputs PTI).
