Paris, August 5: Indian shooters have consistently demonstrated their potential at the Olympics, with notable shooters like Abhinav Bindra, Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore, and the sensational Manu Bhaker. However, several Indian Olympic shooters narrowly missed out on a medal, finishing just shy of the podium in fourth place. Joydeep Karmakar

Joydeep Karmakar faced disappointment, finishing fourth in the 50m rifle prone event at the 2012 London Olympics.

Manu Bhaker

The 22-year-old Indian shooter made history by becoming the first Indian woman to win an Olympic medal in shooting, securing a bronze in the women’s 10m air pistol final. She further distinguished herself by winning another bronze in the 10m air pistol mixed team event with Sarabjot Singh, earning India's first shooting medal in a team event at the Olympics.

Bindra, the only Indian shooter to win Olympic gold, ended up in fourth place at the men's 10m air rifle final in Rio 2016 Olympics.

Arjun Babuta experienced disappointment as he narrowly missed out on an Olympic medal in the men's 10m air rifle final in Chateauroux. Ace Indian shooter Manu Bhaker narrowly missed out on a hat-trick of medals at the Paris 2024 Olympics, finishing fourth in the women’s 25m air pistol event at the National Shooting Center in Chateauroux on Saturday. Despite occupying the top three positions for most of the final, a poor series towards the end saw her drop to fourth place after a shoot-off with Veronika Major of Hungary.
