Fouaad Mirza made India proud as he clinched a silver medal in an individual medal in the equestrian event. This is India’s first medal since 1982 at the Asian Games. Mirza won the silver in the Eventing competition as his horse Seigneur Medicott finished second with a score of 26.40. Japan's Oiwa Yoshiaki and his horse Bart L Jra won gold medal with a score of 22.70. Besides it, Indian team, comprising of Fouaad, Jitender Singh, Akash Malik and Rakesh Kumar, also won a silver in the team event in the equestrian. This was India’s 11th medal in equestrian at Asian Games. In 1982, Raghubir Singh won the gold. Interestingly, that year India secured silver and bronze medals as well. Ghulam Mohammed Khan won silver while Prahlad Singh clinched bronze.

Meanwhile, India are placed ninth on the Asian Games 2018 medals tally. India thus far have won seven gold and as many silver medals, bedsides 17 bronze. India’s tally now reads 31. The two silver medals are India’s first at the 2018 Asian Games 2018 in equestrian.
