Manchester United will not pursue a January move for Swedish striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic according to the latest reports from England. The Swede’s future has been the talk of much speculations as his contract with LA Galaxy is set to expire and he will be a free agent in January. AC Milan have also been in talks with the Swedish striker to bring him back to San Siro along with fellow Serie A side’s Bologna and Napoli. MLS commissioner Don Garber revealed on Thursday that the forward is being recruited by the Rossoneri. ‘Zlatan Ibrahimovic Is Being Recruited by AC Milan,’ Says Major League Soccer Commissioner Don Garber.
Ole Gunnar Solksjaer is hoping to bolster the club’s attacking options since the summer departures of Romelu Lukaku and Alexis Sanchez to Inter Milan. Speculations of Zlatan’s move to United increased when the Swede recently spoke of his regret of not joining the club earlier in his career, promising they would have seen ‘a different lion’. However, the reliable Sky Sports have now offered a key update on the situation by claiming that United will not be pursuing the 38-year old in the winter transfer window. Zlatan Ibrahimovic played for Manchester United between 2016 and 2018 where he won the Carabao Cup and a Europa League title under the Jose Mourinho. He scored a total of 28 goals in 46 appearances for the Red Devils during his first season but a knee injury curtailed his United career. After Manchester United’s decision to not go after Zlatan in January, AC Milan could be in pole position to sign the striker, with reports suggesting Napoli could also be a possible destination for the forward. Zlatan scored 31 goals and assisted eight times for LA Galaxy in all competitions this season. Despite of his impeccable scoring form the Swede was unable to fire his side into the MLS finals and will be leaving the club as a free agent after two seasons.
