2019 in Serie A was nothing new as Juventus were dominant again and ran away with the league to win their eight successive domestic title. There were a lot of upsets over the year starting with Juventus being held at home 3-3 by Parma as the away side rallied back from a two-goal deficit on matchday 22 of the season. Sassuolo vs Sampdoria (3-5) on March 16 and Atalanta vs Udinese (7-1) on October 27 were the highest scoring matches this year as the teams played out an eight-goal thriller in their respective matches. AC Milan vs Inter Milan – March 18, 2019 – Inter Won 3-2

The 170th Milan Derby ended in Inter taking the bragging rights and regaining the third place on the table. Vecino, de Vrij and Lautaro Martinez scored for Inter and put them in the driver’s seat as they took a 3-1 lead. Mateo Musacchio scored late but it was just a consolation goal in the end.

Roma vs Napoli – March 31, 2019 – Napoli Won 4-1

Napoli were too good for Roma as they demolished the capital side 4-1. Milik opened the scoring bin the second minute of the game but Diego Perotti bought the home side levelled right on half-time. Carlo Ancelotti’s side turned on the style in the second-half as they scored three goals without reply.

Napoli vs Inter Milan – May 20, 2019 – Napoli Won 4-1

Another match against a top side from Italy another masterclass from Carlo Ancelotti and his men. Zielinski, Dries Mertens and a Fabian Ruiz brace put the home side 4-0 ahead. Mauro Icardi scored a penalty in the 81st minute and put some respect to the scoreline.

Fiorentina vs Napoli – August 25, 2019 – Napoli Won 4-3

The opening matchday of the 2019-20 season produced one of the most exciting matches of the year in Serie A. The game went one way and the other as Napoli finally came out on top in a seven-goal thriller. Lorenzo Insigne was the match-winner as netted the odd goal in seven just past the hour mark.

Juventus vs Napoli – September 1, 2019 – Juventus Won 4-3

Another thrilling match this year including Napoli and this time they fail to come away with all three points. Carlo Ancelotti’s men came back from a three-goal deficit to level the game but shot themselves in the foot in the end as Kalidou Koulibaly scored an own goal in injury time to give the Old Lady all three points.

Atalanta vs Udinese – September 27, 2019 – Atalanta Won 7-1

This was Atalanta’s biggest ever win in Serie A as they ran riot against a struggling Udinese side. The away side opened the scoring in the 11th minute of the game but succumbed to a fantastic Atalanta side. Luis Muriel’s scored a hat-trick while Josip Ilicic netted a brace. Mario Pasalic and Amad Traore also scored in the game.

The start of 2019-20 season was filled with controversy as AC Milan were excluded from the Europa League after breaching the UEFA Financial Fair Play Regulations. Roma were moved instead of the Rossoneri’s into the group stages while Torino entered the qualification rounds.
